About Us

Bro. Chuck Smith, Our Pastor

“A Caring Church for

Changing Times”

St. Amant Baptist Church was founded in July 1974 at the home of Ronnie and Audy Frederic on Stringer Bridge Road with over forty charter members.

In the fall of 1974, property was purchased on Acy Road for the permanent location of the church.  In the summer of 1975, a Christian school  was started using the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum. Soon, many other ministries began.

In 1984, Pastor Frederic moved to the north and the church brought in Bro. Melvin Meister to be the new pastor. Bro. Meister was a faithful pastor 34 years.

Once Bro Meister retired in 2019, Bro. Chuck Smith became our new pastor.

More changes are taking place and with an amazing spirit among the people, we look forward to see what God will do in the coming years in and through our church.

In August of 2016, a “flood” came to our area and devastated not only our church buildings, but many of the homes of our faithful members. Everything was lost, but God remained faithful. Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” We are so excited about the changes God has brought forth in our buildings and ministries through a natural disaster.

Each year our church hosts the Gulf Coast Baptist Student Convention (founded in 2000)  for Christian schools in our area. Every April, students compete in various events such as Academics, Art, Photography, Athletics, Music, and Platform. It is a great time of Christian competition and fellowship for all who attend.

If you are new to the area or just looking for a church to call “home,” we would love to have you join us!!!

Our Mission

Our mission is to see souls saved, see those saved develop a genuine relationship with our loving Lord, and see lives changed for the glory of our great God.

Our Beliefs

We believe that God is the Creator of all things. Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life on earth, died on the cross to pay our sin debt, rose again three days later, and now sits at the right hand of the throne of God in Heaven. We believe whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  No one has to die and go to hell. Everyone has a choice to accept the free gift of God or reject it. You can accept Christ today!

Our Ministries

We have a ministry for you! Ministries at our church range from nursery through seniors. We have a childrens ministry, teenage ministry, singles ministry, adult ministry, and a senior saints ministry. No matter what age you are, you have a place here at St. Amant Baptist Church.

Van/Bus Ministry

Every Sunday, a van from our church goes out and picks up girls, boys, ladies, and gentlemen to bring them to church. Contact us at (225) 675-5346 to see if a bus comes by your house!

Christian School

Our Christian school utilizes the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) curriculum. Our students are taught reading, writing, and arithmetic from a Christian perspective, but also gain the knowledge of how to be good citizens and to work hard. For more information or to enroll your student, email us at stamantbaptistchurch@gmail.com or call us at (225) 675-5346.

GCBSC

The Gulf Coast Baptist Student Convention is hosted by our church. Every year, schools and homeschool groups from all around the area gather for Christian competition and fellowship. For more information, visit our GCBSC page!
