Bro. Chuck Smith, Our Pastor
“A Caring Church for
St. Amant Baptist Church was founded in July 1974 at the home of Ronnie and Audy Frederic on Stringer Bridge Road with over forty charter members.
In the fall of 1974, property was purchased on Acy Road for the permanent location of the church. In the summer of 1975, a Christian school was started using the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum. Soon, many other ministries began.
In 1984, Pastor Frederic moved to the north and the church brought in Bro. Melvin Meister to be the new pastor. Bro. Meister was a faithful pastor 34 years.
Once Bro Meister retired in 2019, Bro. Chuck Smith became our new pastor.
More changes are taking place and with an amazing spirit among the people, we look forward to see what God will do in the coming years in and through our church.
In August of 2016, a “flood” came to our area and devastated not only our church buildings, but many of the homes of our faithful members. Everything was lost, but God remained faithful. Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” We are so excited about the changes God has brought forth in our buildings and ministries through a natural disaster.
Each year our church hosts the Gulf Coast Baptist Student Convention (founded in 2000) for Christian schools in our area. Every April, students compete in various events such as Academics, Art, Photography, Athletics, Music, and Platform. It is a great time of Christian competition and fellowship for all who attend.
